Good Omens 2 Just Loaded the Chekhov's Gun That May Shoot Season 3 Right in the Leg

Long-awaited Good Omens season 2 was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, but it sure looks like the wild ride is far from being over.

Forget about that heartbreaking Crowley and Aziraphale romantic twist, let's talk about that Book of Life thing. Capable of fully cancelling someone's existence, you say?

The Book of Life was a looming threat throughout the entire season only to never be used in the end, and this is something that Good Omens fans are very, very nervous about.

And for a good reason; in the season 2 finale, we have Aziraphale accepting a sneaky job offer from Metatron which involves something called The Second Coming. How very not creepy.

It sure looks like The Book of Life is a conveniently loaded Chekhov's gun that may or not shoot in the next season. The fact that season 2 never had anyone impacted by an artifact this powerful only hints that it will come in handy when Metatron will set up whatever he means by The Second Coming.

Meanwhile, Crowley put the show on the road, and his constant skepticism and lack of trust won't stop Aziraphale from doing something horrible, willingly or not.

Either we're up for even more drama and heartbreak, or the role of The Book of Life will be drastically diminished (which won't really work story-wise, given that it has already been established as an extremely dangerous thing).

Well, there's always a third option of us never getting Good Omens season 3 in the first place. Neil Gaiman has already acknowledged there is such a possibility in case the second season doesn't live up to viewership goals Amazon would like to see. Besides, the ongoing actors and writers strikes don't really help (you know what would help? A deal between the unions and Hollywood).
