Meredith Grey is undoubtedly one of the biggest attractions of the medical drama Grey's Anatomy.

She has been a favorite character from the very first episode and captured the hearts of fans who love her dedication as a surgeon and a mother, admire her unbreakable strength, feel that they understand her complicated character, and possibly even relate.

When it comes to Grey's Anatomy, no character is perfect, and it seems even the star of the show isn't safe from being flawed. In Meredith's case, her talent is her downfall, because it feeds her ego.

1. When Meredith started at Seattle Grace, she was emotionally unstable, dealing with suicidal tendencies and drinking problems.

She was certainly not fit to be treating patients and should have taken it upon herself to step back from the hospital until she had recovered, but instead carried on as if everything was normal, putting herself and her patients at risk because she deemed herself capable to continue.

2. Meredith Grey will do anything to protect the people she loves, so it wasn't surprising when she begged the hospital shooter Gary Clark to shoot her instead of Derek.

Not only was this decision impulsive and dangerous, but she was also pregnant at the time. By stepping into the situation she could have lost her own life as well as her unborn child's.

3. Being a surgeon is everything to Meredith, but this comes across in a negative light when she and Cristina end up arguing after Cristina pointed out that she was split between medicine and motherhood.

Meredith couldn't handle the truth about herself and initiated a pointless argument with her nearest and dearest friend because her ego got the best of her. Meredith's retaliation made it seem like her success in the medical field was more important to her than motherhood.

4. Meredith jumped in once again to be the hero when she instinctively put her hand on a bomb inside a patient while in the operating room.

Although her actions were brave, the consequences could have been way worse, she could have set the bomb off by touching it after the previous person holding it had let go. Again, this brings up the fact that Meredith doesn't value her own life as much as those around her value theirs, and although she may be okay dying, those around her were at risk too by her actions.

5. Meredith's treatment of men can be poor due to her ego and her inability to open up her heart.

She ends up in somewhat of a love triangle with Link and DeLuca and seems to be leading both of them on, enjoying the chase. She eventually chooses DeLuca and sits laughing with him on a rooftop while Link waits for her in the restaurant.
