Forrest Gump’s actor can be seen in Wednesday’s season 2 opening scene, returning to the horror genre decades after his breakout psychological thriller’s release.

It’s a new year of studies for Wednesday in the new second season for Netflix’s horror-ish show, which means there will be many new faces to get to know better.

Coming back to the small screens three years after the first instalment, Tim Burton’s Wednesday now features a bunch of big celebrities, including Steve Buscemi, Lady Gaga and Haley Joel Osment, with the latter playing a minor role in the ongoing season’s premiere episode.

However, while some weren’t really familiar with Osment’s earlier credits, others quickly recognised him as the kid from a 1999 psychological thriller starring Bruce Willis.

In the first episode of Wednesday’s season 2, Osment stars as The Kansas City Scalper, a maniac and serial killer who is obsessed with dolls and hair.

It’s also revealed that, just like The Scalper was obsessed with all kinds of dolls, Wednesday was obsessed with catching him ever since she was a child.

As it turns out, her dream does come true during the school break when she ends up being tied up with her own hair by The Scalper in his house. However, she soon finds a way to escape after the killer shows her a doll that looks similar to Wednesday herself.

At this moment The Scalper is attacked by Thing and later is presumably killed by Wednesday.

26 Years Before ‘Wednesday’, Haley Joel Osment Starred in Another Horror-ish Role

  • On Rotten Tomatoes, The Sixth Sense holds scores of 86% and 90% from critics and audiences
  • On IMDb, the movie is rated 8.2/10

You might have seen the actor in this year’s Happy Gilmore 2 a little bit before Wednesday came back on Netflix, but the horror genre’s fans have definitely recognised Osment as Cole Sear from M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense.

The psychological thriller stars Bruce Willis as child psychologist Malcolm Crowe seeking ways to help a 9-year-old Cole who can see and talk to dead people. However, as Malcolm starts diving deeper into Cole’s supernatural abilities, he realises he might somehow be connected to the boy’s psychic condition.

The Sixth Sense helped 11-year-old Osment rise to stardom, with the young actor receiving nods from the Academy, the Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
