Harry, Ron & Hermione Cast by HBO for 'Harry Potter' TV Series

The cast for the Golden Trio is officially confirmed.
For the upcoming TV remake, HBO cast Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. In the movies, the roles were played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint respectively.
"After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there," said showrunner Francesca Gardiner, cited by Deadline.
HBO's sorting hat ran through more than 30,000 kids for the big roles. It was an open call — any kid could take part and try to become a part of the wizarding universe.
The chosen ones will start filming the most magical TV project of the decade this summer.
The first season of the show will air in 2026. It has been said that the HBO TV series will span all seven books by J.K. Rowling, and will serve as a "fathful adaptation" — something that book fans have been begging for amidst their issues with the 2000s movies.
The Harry Potter remake will land on HBO Max (formerly Max).
'Harry Potter' Fans Are Actually Fine With the Golden Trio Cast
While the series has already faced backlash over its decision to cast a Black actor for the role of Severus Snape, the choice for Harry, Ron and Hermione appears to sit well with the fandom.
"IMO they already look like the characters without hair and makeup, I like it! The kid playing Harry also looks like he has green eyes, to me. These kids better buckle up; it's gonna be a wild 10 years," Redditor JMPesce said.
Redditors have already cast a "Protego Maxima" over the trio.
"Hopefully the fandom doesn’t completely destroy these kids. They look great and must act the parts after such a huge vetting process (32000 kids!)," noted Redditor KamuiT.
