Emmys must have a beef with fantasy, there's no other explanation.

It's been almost a week since the TV Academy announced this year's Emmy nominations, but there is still an outcry among fans of certain shows. To put it bluntly, people feel that their favorites have been snubbed and that the Academy is to blame.

With Succession sweeping just about every drama series acting category, there was little to no room left for other competitors. Although HBO got the most nominations with their show, House of the Dragon, which premiered in 2022 and was an instant hit for the network, didn't make the list as much as fans had hoped.

The show managed to get a total of eight nominations, one of which was for Outstanding Drama Series. The other seven were to honor the crew that worked on the set, from the sound designers to the costume and makeup department.

The only people left out are the cast members. Neither Emma D'Arcy nor Matt Smith made the list for the Outstanding Lead Actress or Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series awards, respectively.

While this caused outrage within the fandom, it also brought back some very sad memories from Game of Thrones ' history with the Emmys.

Even though the show had been at the top of the TV game for at least four years in a row and received tons of recognition, the Emmy committee didn't favor it at all. If anything, it could be argued that the TV Academy was too harsh on the GoT cast.

Actors Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Diana Rigg, and many others were nominated for Emmys over the years, but no one other than Peter Dinklage has actually gone on to win. Given the outrage they'd already suffered during GoT's eight-year run, fans who watched the original show weren't too surprised by another snub from the Academy.

However, House of the Dragon has all chances to break the spell and get their Emmys next year if Season 2 would be released as planned in early 2024. Stay tuned for all the latest news and behind-the-scenes updates on the show.
