But it looks like we're about to get a lot more lighthearted episodes that will answer a lot of lingering questions, as well as indulge in the holiday tone and Christmas family gatherings. Thankfully, Netflix has revealed details about the upcoming holiday specials, and now we can get ready for them by knowing the release date, time, and what Season 5, Part 2 will be about.

As with other Netflix releases, both episodes will be released on the same day. As for when we can start binge-watching our favorite show, here's a schedule of when the two new episodes will be available on the streaming service.

  • US — 8:00 a.m. PT, 10:00 a.m. CT, 11:00 a.m. ET
  • UK — 4:00 p.m. BST
  • Europe — 17:00 CET

What will the New Episodes Be About?

The upcoming specials will have a much lighter tone, giving fans the much-anticipated coziness that Virgin River has all but lost due to the events and personal dramas that have engulfed the town. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, who replaced Sue Tenney in Season 5, provided more details.

'The holiday episodes are a little bit lighter, and we wanted to play a little more comedy after the weight of this season. It felt like, if we're going to give a holiday gift to the audience, let's make it a fun one,' he told Glamor Magazine.

Several months have passed since Labor Day, and now the residents of Virgin River are busy preparing for Christmas. Mel and Jack are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their baby, but are learning to move on as Mel's sister Joey arrives with her husband and children for the holidays. She will also shed light on the mystery of who Mel's biological father is by providing her with his letters to their mother.

At the same time, Doc, Hope, Denny and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), who has returned from clinical treatment, are actively preparing for the holiday. Lizzie's feelings have only intensified and she is now officially expecting a child. However, Denny is still planning to leave town to go to college, so we will definitely see how their relationship develops.
