There won’t be a third part anytime soon.

Summary:

  • Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is the second and last film in the Aquaman franchise to date.
  • The movie premiered in December 2023, and received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.
  • It will be available for streaming on Max starting February 27, 2024.

It's no secret that the superhero genre has fallen on hard times, both in film and television. Despite James Gunn 's efforts to reboot the DC Cinematic Universe, audiences have yet to see any impressive results.

And even though the Aquaman franchise belonged to the previous universe, some fans still held out hope that the end of 2023 would bring them a quality blockbuster. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

Despite the fact that the first part of Aquaman was the highest-grossing DC movie ever, the sequel turned out to be much weaker than the original. The loyal fans who refused to believe in the downfall of their favorite franchise simply wasted their money on tickets.

If you never made it to the theater to evaluate what exactly disappointed critics so much that the movie had such low ratings and poor reviews, you will soon have the opportunity to catch up on Max.

Where To Watch Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom?

The sequel continues the battle between Aquaman and Black Manta. Still bent on destroying the hero, Black Manta reaches for the mythical Black Trident, unleashing an ancient and malevolent force. Unable to fight such a force alone, Aquaman is forced to reach out to his imprisoned brother and seek reunion.

The dynamic story, which focuses more on family, revenge and unity than on romantic pursuits, failed to impress critics. Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom now sits at just 34% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, as critics bashed just about every aspect of the production except Jason Momoa's performance.

As more reviews poured in, fewer audiences wanted to risk their holiday cheer on an obviously weak film. The December release, which was supposed to boost the box office, didn't fool anyone. Contrary to the first Aquaman movie, the second installment became the second lowest grossing DC movie, excluding those affected by COVID.

If you were one of those people who weren't curious enough about Aquaman's adventure to spend your time and money at the movies during the holiday season, but still want to see it and find out what the buzz was all about, you're in luck!

According to the latest update, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom will premiere digitally on Max on February 27, 2024. So mark your calendars and make sure you have your subscription ready.
