There's a whole list of clues that point to The Mandalorian being a Christmas show, no matter how far-fetched it may seem. Redditor CardboardCas suggested this idea for others to consider, and the thread got a lot of traction, with many people agreeing with the idea:

“A TV series about a baby that the empire wants to kill. Who has powers. Who will likely one day be someone significant. Who has caught the attention of Ancient Orders. A show which features animal herders and people dressed in desert attire.”

Considering the fact that Christmas was mentioned in the show itself, it is also safe to assume that at least part of it happens during the holiday season. While it’s not much, it certainly adds some celebratory feeling to the otherwise completely usual Space Western.

Not only that, but the showrunner behind the show, Jon Favreau, admitted to taking some inspiration from the Star Wars Christmas special. While it wasn't the most popular piece among fans, the willingness to include as many parts of the franchise as possible is the most admirable.

The Mandalorian is scheduled to resume filming in early 2024, with no specific release date for season 4.
