Lola Tung & Nico Parker Take On Perkins’ Creepy High-School Horror — Should Fans Be Excited or Worried?

From Longlegs to Keeper, Perkins shows no signs of slowing.
Following the shifting landscape of modern horror, I couldn’t help but stop at the latest announcement from Osgood Perkins. His new project, The Young People, begins filming this autumn in Vancouver.
Rising stars Lola Tung (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Nico Parker (The Last of Us) take the lead, making this more than just another eerie tale. It also marks the first film under Perkins’ new Neon deal, produced with his own company Phobos.
Phobos Rising
Perkins shows no sign of easing his pace. Alongside producer Chris Ferguson, he founded Phobos to develop not only his work but other projects too. The Young People will launch this venture, following a schoolgirl friendship that gradually slips into something darker.
Classic Perkins territory — unsettling, stylish, and a little like a bad dream.
Neon and the Next Chapter
After the breakout success of Longlegs — $127 million worldwide on a modest budget — Neon is betting even bigger. With Keeper arriving this November, Perkins will deliver two features in one year.
A bold move, though some may wonder if such speed risks stretching him thin. Then again, isn’t that unpredictability part of the thrill? As a viewer, I’d rather see a director burn bright and take risks than settle into comfort.
