Love, Death + Robots faced controversy long before the new season dropped due to MrBeast's casting in “The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur.” But that turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg.
As viewers watched the new episodes, a more fundamental issue emerged: the brilliant storytelling that had defined previous seasons was nowhere to be found. The new episodes feel empty and barely leave an emotional impact.
‘Love, Death + Robots’ Season 4 Kicked off on Icky Note
“Can't Stop,” the season opener, should have been a knockout that set the standard for the rest of the season. Well, unfortunately it did set the standard, and not in a good way.
The premise is simple and pretty straightforward: Red Hot Chili Peppers performance at Slane Castle brought to life through puppetry. Essentially, this is just a concert. For the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Fans? Iconic. But for people unfamiliar with the band? A snoozefest.
“As a music video (which could be released on YT) it is a cool idea. As a LDR episode it is meh and I would have loved to see idk... some kind of reveal, like someone pulling the strings or something like that,” Redditor Shvaytzar wrote.
