Mina-nee's wedding photos were real, the engagement ring was Harry Winston, and the engagement is now over. She and her former fiancé are friends.

Love Village (Ai no Sato in Japan) is Netflix's dating series for singles aged 35 to 60, who move into an old house, fix it up and live together while looking for one last love. Season 1 streamed in May 2023 over 18 episodes. On September 10, 2025, Netflix held a livestreamed reunion on YouTube that brought back most of the season 1 cast, and much of what's known about where they are now comes from that broadcast.

Who is Mina-nee?

Mina-nee, born in 1962, is a picture-book author and was 60 when she joined the show. She arrived with a firm position. Netflix Japan's own promotion for the season described her as twice divorced, both times because her husband cheated, and convinced that she didn't need romance.

She has told the story herself in an essay for the Japanese literary site Web Bessatsu Bungeishunju. She married her first husband at 30, after lowering her expectations; a few years after their son was born, his very public affair ended the marriage. She then married a man 19 years younger than her, determined this time to be with someone she truly loved, and that marriage also ended because of his affair. After two divorces, she wrote, she was done with romance and done with men, until her son grew up and left home and she realized she still wanted to love someone and be loved.

Love Village: who is still together? One season 1 couple got as far as wedding photos

Her son is Takane Hosoyama, a former child actor once known to Japanese TV audiences as "Hosoyama-kun."

Her story on the show

Mina-nee ended up at the center of what the show treated as a grown-up love triangle. The two men were Naka-san, a 60-year-old landlord, and Numappy, a 41-year-old anime producer.

Here's how it played out after that:

  • The finale — Naka-san asked Mina-nee to be his partner for life. She turned him down.
  • After filming — the two met again once the cameras were gone, and the relationship began off-screen.
  • June 2023 — on a YouTube follow-up episode for the season's couples, they announced their engagement. Naka-san had given her a Harry Winston ring, and they released a set of wedding photos.
  • September 2025 — at the Netflix reunion, Mina-nee said the two were now friends. The engagement had ended, and neither described a specific falling-out.

In her essay, written while they were still together, Mina-nee said she had told her partner that what she offered him was "not love, but resolve."

A woman who said she didn't need romance ended up with the season's most complete love story, and she was the one who wrote its most clear-eyed account.

The rest of the season 1 cast

Four couples left the village together. Mina-nee and Naka-san were the oldest. The other three:

  • Junpei and Okayo — the season's first couple and the only one still together. They started out long distance between Shizuoka and Tokyo and told the 2025 reunion that they now live near each other. In July 2026 they marked the anniversary of the day they met. They have not announced an engagement.
  • Totchan and Sakechan — the therapist and single mother rang the bell for Sakechan in episode 12. Japanese coverage reports they split in 2023.
  • Tabo and Yukorin — together for about two years, they confirmed their breakup at the 2025 reunion.

That leaves one couple standing from season 1, and none married. Season 3 premiered on October 6, 2026, at a new village at the foot of Mount Fuji, with 23 episodes rolling out every Tuesday through November 3.
