Marvel’s Biggest Disaster With 15% RT Score Is Suddenly a New Global Hit on Netflix

The movie was panned as one of the worst releases in recent years, though it just found a second life on streaming for one more time.
With all the glory and praise they had several years ago, Marvel movies have been recently experiencing a major downfall in quality and narrative worthiness, marking the most disappointing box office results in theatres worldwide.
Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter became such notorious cases last year while another Spider-Man-related movie performed even worse back in 2022.
Despite having Oscar winner Jared Leto as its lead, the flick left everyone unimpressed and was quietly added to Netflix soon after leaving theatres; several years later, the failed movie is once again having a good time in the streamer’s global top chart.
Morbius Is Netflix’s Unexpected Global Hit… Again
As the movie has already been seen entering Netflix’s global top every once in a while, Morbius is getting attention again, currently holding the 5th position in the streamer’s global top, according to FlixPatrol.
Surprisingly, the movie is only surpassed by Netflix’s recent big releases like Counterattack, Delicious, Plankton: The Movie and The Electric State.
Starring Leto opposite Matt Smith, Morbius follows Dr. Michael Morbius, one of the most compelling antagonists in Spider-Man's universe setting up a desperate gamble in an attempt to save people who, just like him, are ill with a rare blood disorder.
However, the evil eventually prevails when Morbius and his surrogate brother Milo, portrayed by Matt Smith, finally cure themselves from the disease and turn into living vampires.
Morbius Failed in Theatres Twice
Like many of its Marvel predecessors, the movie could be seen in theatres more than once following its re-release after the initial premiere in March of 2022, yet the reason was different.
Delayed several times due to the 2020 pandemic, Morbius was met with backlash criticising the film’s writing and visual effects; the movie turned out to be a box office failure too, earning $167 million against the initial budget of around $83 million.
However, this wasn’t the end for Morbius’ theatrical run as months later the internet memes about the film became so popular it seemed like a sign for Sony to give it another try and release Morbius in theatres for the second time in just several months.
It didn’t help much after all — the movie bombed in the box office once again and since then has only belonged to digital platforms.
