The Criminal Minds gang of profilers has long become the dream team for many viewers.

They certainly seem to have a special bond, which undoubtedly helped the show run for 15 seasons and get a revival on Paramount+.

But in real life, the relationship between the cast members is not one bit less sweet and close than their fictional counterparts. Take Paget Brewster and Matthew Gray Gubler, for example.

While Emily Prentiss and Spencer Reid are undoubtedly friends on the show, the actors who play them also share a special bond.

In fact, they are so close that Gubler even officiated Brewster's wedding to Steve Damstra, which was a heartwarming moment for all Criminal Minds fans. And it seems that Paige misses her co-star, who didn't join the revival, as much as the fans do.

While busy with promotions and all things Criminal Minds during Season 1, Brewster apparently had her friend in mind, just like millions of viewers.

In the middle of the season, the actress sent fans into a frenzy by giving Gubler an adorable shout-out.

On her Instagram account, where the actress posts hilarious photos of her finger pointing at things accompanied by short and sharp two-word captions, Brewster posted a sketch of what appears to be a monster born from a combination of the virus's DNA and hers.

"Timely Gubler," she captioned.

Apparently, this piece of art created by her friend is very dear to the actress, as she has it framed and hanging on the wall in her home.

Of course, this mention of the fan-favorite Criminal Minds star led to many comments asking Gubler to return to the show.

Some commenters even speculated that the post was nothing less than a hint at a future happy reunion with Reid. Sadly, it was not.

The actress, who clearly knows Gubler better than many, told Looper in anticipation of the revival that Matthew's decision to sit out Season 1 was understandable.

While Criminal Minds has been a huge part of his life, it's also prevented him from getting involved in other projects, especially directing, which is both his profession and passion.

But die-hard fans are still holding out hope of seeing the beloved Dr. Reid next season. Who knows, maybe Gubler will want to join his friends on the set this year. Fingers crossed.
