Meghan Markle Is Officially Returning to Hollywood — But Not the Way You Think
Suits’ actress announced her retirement from acting back in 2017, but is coming back to the big screens with a pretty unexpected role.
There have been many talks about ex-Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle in the last several years, though it was never linked to the actress’ career in Hollywood she wasn’t willing to revive after her wedding with Prince Harry back in 2018.
However, after multiple appearances in all kinds of Netflix’s shows, Markle is seemingly coming back to the industry with a bigger role in an upcoming movie.
Titled Close Personal Friends, the film is currently being filmed in California where the actress was spotted just days ago alongside her co-stars Lily Collins and Brie Larson.
However, Markle’s fans shouldn’t really expect her to make a grand return to acting now that more details about the actress’ involvement in the future movie have been revealed.
Meghan Markle to Play Herself in ‘Close Personal Friends’
Still recognised for her major part in the TV series Suits, Markle has since become a not less major public figure, which means Hollywood inviting her back for a cameo role is also understandable.
Despite many initially thinking that Markle will star as one of the leads in the upcoming drama, it was quickly revealed that the actress will be featured in just a couple of scenes.
“She has a small part. She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth”, an insider told People recently.
However, even with a minor role in Close Personal Friends, Markle reportedly feels like a fresh start in something she has loved all along.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers, but this one felt right”, the insider continued, adding that everyone on the set was “super-excited” to have Markle back and has kept her involvement under wraps until now.
Meghan Markle Previously Said She Was “Done” With Acting
Before leaving the industry for a much quieter life with Prince Harry, Markle spent several years starring as one of the leads in the legal drama series Suits, which, as she admitted repeatedly, has become the prime of her career.
Still, even after rising to stardom, the actress was convinced she might not have been a right fit for the series and would eventually let go.
“For me, I had tried for so long to land on a show, filming all these pilots, wondering if they would get picked up. All of Season 1 on “Suits,” I was convinced I was going to get recast. All the time”, Markle revealed in an interview with Variety back in 2022.
When asked whether she was thinking about a possible return to the industry, the actress said she was confident about not starring in any other project anymore.
“No. I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not”, Markle added.
