They punched us right in the gut when we least expected it.

The reason we love movies so much is that they have the incredible ability to evoke a wide range of emotions in us, from joy and excitement to sadness and fear.

Sometimes a particular scene can leave a lasting impact, haunting the viewers long after the credits roll. These are the moments that shocked, traumatized, and left an indelible mark on the collective memory of fans.

1. Sam's Death — I Am Legend

It absolutely turned us inside out. The moment when Will Smith 's character is sitting on the floor of his lab and holding his dog Samantha in his arms, watching how she turns into a monster.

The heartbreak on his face when he realizes that he has to kill his only best friend is devastating. Despite his best efforts to save her, Neville is forced to euthanize Sam to prevent her from suffering and turning into one of the infected.

2. Final Scene — La La Land

At the end of Damien Chazelle's masterpiece, Sebastian and Mia both got what they wanted —- he is the owner of a jazz club and she is a famous actress. They both went their separate ways and eventually found what they were looking for.

Their eye-to-eye meeting, still full of love and support for each other after all these years, completely shattered our hearts and made us realize once again that sometimes if you really love your person, you have to let them go and let them pursue their dreams.

3. Dobby's Death — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

We know the exact moment when your little heart might have broken for the first time. If only we were there we would take Bellatrix Lestrange's knife for Dobby without a second thought.

Dobby considered Harry his best friend, and what would be a better way for him to die than in his arms? And however painful his death was, he took it surrounded by people he truly loved. "Such a beautiful place to be with friends."

4. Gwen Stacy's Death — The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Imagine being a split second away from saving the love of your life. A tragic twist occurs when Gwen falls from a great height, and despite the best efforts of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man to save her, she tragically dies.

Her death is a heartbreaking moment that shows the risks and sacrifices that come with being a superhero.

5. Gas Chamber — The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

In the final scene, Bruno, a young German boy, disguises himself in a striped concentration camp uniform and sneaks into the camp to help his friend Shmuel find his missing father.

Unaware of the true horrors of the camp, Bruno's innocence and naivety lead him deeper into danger as he and his friend are caught in a gas chamber evacuation and their lives come to a tragic end.

The whole scene along with Vera Farmiga's heartbreaking scream is so gut-wrenching that it still haunts us.

6. The Last Ride — Fast And Furious

In Furious 7, the Last Ride scene serves as a heartfelt tribute to Paul Walker, who tragically passed away during the filming of the movie.

The scene holds significant emotional weight, as it marks both the end of Brian O'Conner's story arc and a final farewell to the actor who brought him to life.

Along with the song See You Again, this scene always hits us right in the gut and makes us cry our hearts out.

7. Father's Death — A Quiet Place

The father's death scene in A Quiet Place is a masterclass in tension and emotion. In a moment of selflessness, the father realizes that his children have an opportunity to escape, but only if he creates a distraction to draw the creature away.

He looks at his children with love before letting out a heartbreaking scream to save them. It's a sacrifice that shows the viewers the depth of a father's love and the lengths he will go to protect his family.
