NBC Bosses Reveal Painful Reason for Suits LA Cancellation

Suits LA cancellation has the fans of the franchise worried sick, and NBC’s reasoning gives them no hope. Stay tuned to see why.
NBC recently announced its lineup for the fall of 2025, and bad news for fans of legal dramas: Suits LA didn't make it for another season.
The fact that NBC heavily promoted Suits LA also makes it look strange. The series premiered in February and starred Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg. It also featured appearances by original Suits cast members Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman and David Costabile.
None of it helped.
Why Was Suits LA Cancelled?
Despite the buzz, the spinoff failed to connect with critics or audiences. Still, many industry observers expected NBC to give it more time, given the investment in reviving the franchise. But according to Jeff Bader, president of program planning strategy at NBCUniversal Entertainment, the numbers told a different story.
“It’s so hard to talk about shows and which ones you bring back, and ’Suits’ had a very short run, but it really just has not resonated the way we thought it would. There can be many, many reasons why, people are speculating why it hasn’t resonated, but it’s just not really showing the potential to grow for us in the future, unfortunately,” Bader said (via Variety).
Bader said NBC considers whether canceled shows might find new life on Peacock, but in the case of Suits LA and the other recently canceled series, no such move is currently planned. The series ran for 13 episodes and its finale is scheduled to air on May 18.
What Do Fans And Critics Think About Suits LA & Cancelation?
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Suits LA has 39% from critics and 55% from viewers.
- On IMDb, Suits LA has 5.4/10.
“It was really bad so I'm not surprised. I wanted to like it because I enjoyed the original Suits and watched Amell in other projects, but I couldn't get past the first episode,” Redditor preguntontas said.
“It’s not gonna get picked up somewhere else. This show didn’t make even close to the OG viewership, and the OG Suits wasn’t even a mainline show on NBC, it was on USA. Making less than 2 million views on a mainline channel? Suits is dead until they decide to reboot it in 10 years or so,” said Redditor DualDier.
Some believe that the main mistake of Suits: LA was trying too hard to catch up with the original.
“Honestly people comparing it with the original relentlessly is what killed the viewership. You're trying to find the relationship between Mike and Harvey in Ted and Stuart and it obviously won't be there. I like the show, I don't like the cameos, I like the plots and the whole premise is completely different from corporate law suits. Unfortunately, keeping that name is a curse,” Redditor Prestigious_Rip505 noted.
