Who is the spy in My Bias My Boss? The boss's first suspect was the fangirl herself
Let's take a moment for CEO Kang Ha-gi (Kang Hoon), a man who spent weeks convinced that the corporate mole bleeding his company dry was... the new girl who joined specifically to breathe the same air as her idol. Detective work: zero. Confidence: unlimited.
To be fair to the paranoid king, Nam Da-reum (Kim Hye-jun) did look suspicious on paper. She came to fashion startup Appello from SE Trading — the exact rival receiving Appello's stolen secrets — and turned down a big-corporation salary to do it. Ha-gi clocked her as the prime suspect and started shadowing her, as Soompi chronicled in real time. The actual reason she defected, of course, is that former idol Lee Chan works there, and twelve years of fangirling demanded it. Her opening voice-over warned us how her judgment operates: "Someone once said that love is like an unexpected car crash."
The real spy was in the group photo the whole time
While Ha-gi was busy suspecting the woman he was simultaneously falling for (multitasking!), the actual leak was coming from somewhere that hurts a hundred times more:
- The mole is Choi Sung-wook, head of Appello's management support team — the guy Ha-gi treated like family. His kids' stickers are literally on Ha-gi's furniture.
- The trap that caught him was a team-up between Ha-gi and HAN CEO Han Jeong-yeon, whose brand SE gutted with the same playbook.
- The kill shot: Ha-gi catches Sung-wook printing the confidential presentation and hand-delivering it to SE. No ambiguity, no excuses.
- The fallout, per The Review Geek's recap: Ha-gi skips work for the first time in his life and breaks down scraping those stickers off his walls. I was not okay.
The fangirl was never the threat. The threat had a standing invitation to dinner.
Why this twist actually works
The drama's whole poster tagline was "Who is your bias?" — and the spy arc is that question with the lights turned off. Da-reum's devotion looked irrational and turned out to be harmless. Sung-wook's loyalty looked solid and turned out to be a rental. A show about parasocial love quietly ran a parallel experiment about professional love, and the parasocial girl won.
Twelve episodes of a CEO learning that the person screaming at a concert is more trustworthy than the person nodding in his boardroom.
The finale lands tonight on tvN and Viki, with Ha-gi patched up emotionally by exactly one (1) marketing employee. Justice for fangirls everywhere.
