Buddy comedies just never go out of style.

Nicolas Cage might be an action movie star, but the actor’s comedy about himself struggling in a high-competitive cinema industry is what still fascinates fans almost 3 years after its release.

Starring Cage and Pedro Pascal in the leading roles, a 2022 comedy action flick The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is suddenly back on track as the movie is now streaming on Netflix and recently even made it to the platform’s top 10 US chart.

According to FlixPatrol, the movie is currently holding the 8th position on the list of the most popular films in the US.

Still, that’s a pretty impressive return to the spotlight for a 3-year-old movie, though back in the day The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was also highly praised by critics and viewers being vocal about Cage and Pascal’s unmatched chemistry on the screen.

The movie follows Nicolas Cage’s fictionalised version of himself who fears his career might be over once he realises that major film roles are no longer booked for him. Though, apparently, that’s not even the character’s biggest trouble since he’s constantly tortured by obsessive thoughts embodied in a younger version of himself called Nicky while his relationships with the ex-wife and daughter are more than strained.

In order to avoid spending the rest of his life in retirement accompanied by misery, Cage accepts his agent’s offer of 1 million dollars from a billionaire playboy Javi Gutiérrez who wants his favorite actor to be a guest at his birthday party. Soon the fun part fades into a pretty much real chase that will give Cage another chance to prove himself as, well, an action movie star.
