Why bother picking just one movie when you can catch both of them in a single go?
Barbie and Oppenheimer, both of these movies are undoubtedly highly anticipated on their own. But they get most of the buzz when they are mentioned in the same sentence; it’s all because they're both coming out on the same day, July 21, 2023.
If you haven’t made up your mind about which movie you're going to watch first, no worries. A YouTuber Curious Refuge has created and posted a trailer for Barbenheimer.
The concept is as fascinating as it sounds. Just imagine a world where Barbie is now racing against the Nazis. And she's not just racing, she's also working on a weapon that could potentially destroy the world.
The trailer begins with a clever introduction of Barbie as a scientist who is the best in her field. Not only a scientist but a “doctor, a flight attendant, an astronaut, a Marine Corps medic, a paleontologist, a veterinarian, and even a three-time Olympic gold medalist.”
She's tasked with a mission of utmost importance — to beat the Nazis in a race that could determine the fate of the world.
The trailer is filled with hilarious moments, like when Ken, played by Ryan Gosling, unknowingly consumes weaponized uranium 235, thinking it's candy.
The trailer ends with Barbie quoting Oppenheimer, "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds." Oppenheimer said it at the first detonation of the atomic bomb in July 1945.
The cast of this imaginary movie has mostly remained the same. Barbie is played by Margot Robbie, with Ryan Gosling as Ken, Matt Damon as Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, and Will Ferrell as the president.
The trailer also makes fun of Cillian Murphy as the narrator tries to pronounce the first letter of his first name.
The trailer is a perfect blend of humor, and what's even more impressive is that this trailer was almost completely created with the help of artificial intelligence such as Midjourney AI.
Now, all we have to do is expect both Barbie and Oppenheimer to perform well at the box office, and maybe someday, this crossover might become a reality.
