The show’s creators gave up on the controversial figures way too fast.

Young Sheldon ’s finale may have left its numerous viewers dumbfounded and heartbroken, but things could’ve actually got much worse should the creators have opted for some other plot twists that involved the show’s most controversial characters ever.

Throughout its run of seven years, Young Sheldon introduced many side characters that had an impact on the main storyline in one way or another, yet Brenda Sparks and Pastor Rob were the only ones to almost lead the series to a point of no return.

Having initially appeared as the Coopers’ neighbor and a pastor at a local church, Brenda and Rob sparked a major confrontation between Sheldon’s parents, yet were still quick to vanish without having a teeny-tiny update in the finale.

In Young Sheldon, Brenda and Rob came as a sinister omen for Mary and George Sr.’s marriage since both got close to cheating on each other, but eventually never did the wrong thing.

This came as a significant crisis in the couple’s relationships which both managed to overcome — and now that Young Sheldon has nothing left to show or say, it seems like Brenda and Rob’s appearance in the series was serving one and only aim to put Mary and George’s marriage at risk.

When things between Sheldon’s parents got clear, Brenda and Rob were nowhere to be found anymore and, what’s even more striking, all the mess was quickly forgotten as soon as both ambiguous characters were out of sight.

In season 6, all the four characters suddenly got together, which eventually provoked a fight between Mary and George, who confessed that they’d almost cheated on each other with Pastor Rob and Brenda respectively.

Given that the religious beliefs have always been present in the series and Young Sheldon’s final season features George’s tragic passing, bringing Brenda and Pastor Rob back for the former to address her relationships with George and the latter to check on Mary after her husband’s death would actually make a lot of sense since both so-called villains got attached to their objects of passion.

Instead, Brenda and Pastor Rob were quickly written off the show as if their only purpose in there was to seduce George and Mary with no real reason for it whatsoever.
