Not Tommy Shelby: Cillian Murphy Teases A Different Role For Himself In Peaky Blinders Movie
The Peaky Blinders star fuels more rumors about his much-anticipated movie.
- Little is known about the Peaky Blinders movie teased by Steven Knight, the creator of the original show.
- In his recent interview, Cillian Murphy, the Peaky Blinders lead star, claimed he’d be a producer of the movie “if there were to be one.”
- Earlier, Murphy and Knight were seen in a secret meeting in a pub where they spent over an hour discussing something.
Peaky Blinders, the world-famous show about the Shelby criminal family, ended back in 2022, but fans believe it wasn’t the finale of Tommy and his brothers’ story. Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, spoke about finishing it with a full-scale movie on many occasions, but there’s little to no news about its current state and whether it’s happening at all. Thankfully, Cillian Murphy, the lead star, is there to tease us.
Cillian Murphy Hints At His Role In The Peaky Blinders Movie
Recently, the Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer star talked to Deadline about his new production company, Big Things Films, and — as it was inevitably supposed to happen — also touched upon the much-anticipated Peaky Blinders movie that’s still shrouded in mystery. Murphy was asked about Big Things’ involvement with the film.
“If there were to be a Peaky movie, I would definitely be a producer. It’s hard to tell at this stage, given that it isn’t set up yet, whether there would be a role for Big Things,” the actor replied.
Apparently, Cillian Murphy is set to act as a producer on the Peaky Blinders movie… If there were to be one, of course. As usual, the actor doesn’t indulge in revealing information about his projects that are not set in stone, but we have a hunch.
Cillian Murphy And Steven Knight Had A Secret Meeting In January
While both Knight and Murphy are keeping it quiet about the potential movie’s progress, they were seen on a rendezvous in a pub last week. Sources claim that the Peaky Blinders creator and lead star spent over an hour in a lively discussion which, presumably, had everything to do with the all-too-secretive Peaky movie.
Considering what Murphy told Deadline, it’s likely that his involvement as a producer is one of the pressing matters on the table that would determine whether or not Peaky Blinders the Movie is made. After all, if Murphy isn’t there to portray Tommy Shelby, there can’t be a film about the Shelby family. We don’t make the rules, that’s just how it is.
