There are so many famous moments in the long and legendary history of Friends that it's difficult to narrow it down to one.

However, when fans of the TV franchise break down their favorite moments from the past, including the best Rachel scenes, it's not even close to what ranks as the funniest joke ever.

Friends remains one of the most legendary shows in the history of television. It regularly competed with Seinfeld for the best TV show of the 90s and helped catapult the careers of Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Jennifer Aniston.

The sitcom, which presents the story of six friends existing together in Manhattan, features so many iconic moments that audiences have difficulty picking a personal favorite. Nonetheless, when it comes to the funniest words that ever came out of Rachel's mouth, it's an easy selection.

"This is not a marriage, this is the world's worst hangover!" Rachel gripes while recovering from a trip to Vegas in the first episode of season 6.

The infamous words which were essentially a reaction to Rachel discovering she had drunkenly married Ross remain among the funniest ever uttered on Friends. And, what's more, the punchline was not in the original script.

According to the behind-the-scenes footage in the Friends DVD collection, the infamous line was completely improvised by Aniston. It's true, while the 53-year-old actress may not get the same recognition as other co-stars on Friends for blurting out lines that make audiences laugh, she is deserving of coining "marriage is the world's worst hangover".

Interestingly enough, among the other famous Rachel moments in Friends is the one when she was pranked by Ross in the stairway.

The scene that occurs during the episode "The One With the Truth About London" (S7, E16), was an actual reaction from Aniston as she was not aware before shooting the scene that it was a dummy, and not actually Ross. For this reason, you could argue it stands as the funniest physical reaction ever from Rachel.

True fans who still want to know more about the filming of Friends should consider reading Friends Forever: The One About The Episodes, which reveals several other interesting tidbits about the TV show. For example, did you know that Paolo's Italian lines were improvised in Season 1? Or that Marcel the monkey once stole Jennifer Aniston's bra?
