It’s the right time to sum up the year.

Each year, every streaming platform releases tons of new series: documentaries, comedies, horror, thrillers, etc. Some of them are long-awaited and heavily promoted for months before their release, but there are some that fly under the radar and never even make it onto any "best series" list.

Well, the thing is, apparently it doesn't matter, because the show from either list can become a highly acclaimed one. Apple TV+ is one of the most popular streaming platforms today, releasing dozens of new series every month. This year, there are only seven shows that have a Rotten Tomatoes score of 90% or better, so you'd better check them out.

1. Drops Of God – 100%

The series was released in April 2023 and quickly became the favorite show of those who live by the famous Latin phrase "In Vino Veritas," which means "in wine there is truth." At the center of the story is Camille Léger, a young woman who inherited an extraordinary wine collection after her father, the world's greatest figure in oenology, passed away in Tokyo.

But when she arrives at the reading of the will, she realizes that she will have to compete with another young oenologist, Issei Tomine, whom her father called his "spiritual son", for her inheritance. The series is perfect for those who appreciate intelligent dramas.

2. My Kind Of Country – 100%

Another series that scored 100% is actually not an ordinary show, but a country music competition with different participants from different parts of the world. The series was highly praised by viewers, who all said that Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves did an excellent job creating such an exciting show.

3. The Enfield Poltergeist – 100%

This British series is a horror documentary about one of the scariest poltergeist stories that is believed to have taken place in real England somewhere between 1977 and 1979. The documentary has a chilling atmosphere that really keeps you on the edge of your seat, ready to escape the room as another story unfolds on the screen.

What makes this series even more terrifying is the original footage from the council house in London where the alleged sinister events occurred. Fans of the show claim that the season finale had one of the most gripping storylines that made even the most diehard atheists question the nature of the reality they live in.

4. Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker – 95%

This sports documentary is a must-see for anyone who wants to get an inside look at the lives of legends. At the core of the series is the controversial story of tennis icon Boris Becker, from his teenage triumph at Wimbledon to his rise to world number one.

However, as the story unfolds, we learn of the many troubles that surrounded his name at the same time he was building a glittering career. As it turns out, everything that made him the greatest was also the reason for his downfall.

5. Platonic – 93%

The perfect series to watch if you want to reminisce about your past and think about the people you used to be close to. The show focuses on two characters who reunite after many years to talk about the time when they were best friends. Unfortunately, they went their own ways, but it seems that this time, given a second chance to become close again, the new friendship they formed will stay with them.

What fans loved about the show was the depth of the writing, which helped viewers see each character not from the perspective of a stereotypical showcase, but as a developed human being with their own emotions.

6. The Big Door Prize – 92%

What do you want to be when you grow up? Needless to say, while this is the easiest question for children, it is arguably the most terrifying for adults. Many of us never really figure out who we want to be in life, where we want to work, or where we want to live. People create false life purposes and believe in them, even though deep down they know they are not in the right place.

One day, the citizens of a small town called Deerfield will discover a destiny prediction machine in their grocery store. And from that moment on, their lives will change forever. But are these changes for good?

7. Shrinking – 91%

Frankly, this is our personal favorite, so we are very happy to see it made the list. Created by Brett Goldstein, Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso exec producer), and Jason Segel, who you may remember as Marshall from How I Met Your Mother, the series explores the life of a grieving therapist who finds some kind of peace in fixing his patients by telling them the hard truth.

Segel is also the main character of the story, and his portrayal of the complicated middle-aged man who is lost and trying to put his life back together is extraordinary. Together with Harrison Ford, his grumpy old mentor, they form a hilarious duo worth following.
