Production Pause on Untitled Brothers Comedy from Skydance: New Showrunner Negotiations Underway

Filming suspended on Apple’s McConaughey & Harrelson Brothers comedy series.
Filming has been halted on Apple TV+’s untitled brothers comedy series from Skydance Television, starring and executive produced by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, Deadline has learned. According to sources, production in Austin, Texas was paused late last week, with the cast — including Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez, and Brittany Ishibashi — being sent home.
The development follows the departure of showrunner David West Read. At this stage, eight of the ten episodes ordered for the series have already been filmed. Veteran comedy showrunner Lee Eisenberg (known for Jury Duty and Little America), who most recently created and executive produced Apple TV+’s acclaimed limited series Lessons in Chemistry, is currently in negotiations to take over as showrunner for the final two episodes and any necessary reshoots, I am told.
The reasons behind the suspension remain unclear, but sources suggest it may be related to creative or logistical issues. The series, which stars McConaughey and Harrelson as brothers, was highly anticipated but now faces an uncertain future as production is temporarily on hold. Further updates are expected as negotiations continue.
