Rose Byrne Wants You to Watch Her Overlooked 91%-Rated Show: "It Never Got the Credit"
It is an intellectually complex story that was ahead of its time and deserves to be rediscovered.
Rose Byrne has established herself as one of the most versatile actresses of her generation with an incredible range of performances – from horror and comedy to superhero blockbusters.
Rose Byrne Says 'Damages' Is a "Fascinating" but Overlooked Show

Looking back on her successful career today, Byrne is particularly fond of one of her key projects that she feels has been unfairly overlooked – the legal thriller Damages.
In an interview with Slant Magazine, the actress discussed the series' place in television history:
“Damages is fascinating, because we came out the same year as Mad Men. Shortly after that was Breaking Bad. HBO had set the bar with The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. It was the beginning of this ‘golden age of TV’ and prestige television.
And I look back now and think, ‘Wow, what a time to be launching that show!’ People derive a lot from that show! A lot of shows after were Damages-lite, and it never got the credit.”
What Is 'Damages' About?
The plot revolves around Ellen (Rose Byrne), a brilliant and ambitious recent law school graduate who joins the firm of legendary, utterly unscrupulous attorney Patty Hewes (Glenn Close).
Ellen quickly realizes that she was hired for more than just her professional skills. When Patty launches a dangerous lawsuit against a powerful billionaire, not only is Patty's life, career, and well-being at stake, but also those of her protégés and Ellen's loved ones.
'Damages' Is a Tense Legal Drama With Brilliant Performances by Both Rose Byrne & Glenn Close

Glenn Close plays Patty Hewes, an icy, calculating, and ruthless strategist – she won two Emmy Awards for the role. However, the dynamic became unforgettable because of the confrontation and complex chemistry between Close and Rose Byrne.
Byrne had to endure a true test: she had to work 18-hour days, be in virtually every scene, and perform alongside one of the greatest actresses of her time.
Byrne admitted to initially feeling shy around Close, but they became friends over time. Being close to such a master awakened Byrne's overachiever syndrome: she memorized her lines well in advance, meticulously analyzed her performance, and worked to improve from season to season.
Her diligence and talent paid off – her portrayal of Ellen earned her two Emmy nominations and firmly established her as a serious dramatic actress.
