Samuel L. Jackson Gives 'Tulsa King' Hope to Become New 'Yellowstone'

Taylor Sheridan’s least fan-favourite show has just cast Samuel L. Jackson for both the upcoming third season and its future spinoff. However, Tulsa King’s viewers aren’t all excited about the show’s universe expansion.
With several more Yellowstone spinoff shows to develop, Taylor Sheridan is making himself even busier with a new different series deriving from his 2022 crime drama Tulsa King, which might not be the best choice out of all his projects after all.
According to Deadline, Samuel L. Jackson is the latest addition to the cast of Tulsa King’s upcoming season 3 and, what’s more, he will also become one of the leads in Tulsa King’s spinoff series titled NOLA King.
With the series clearly following Yellowstone’s footsteps, Tulsa King is yet to show whether Jackson’s casting will bring some profit, though so far the show’s audiences aren’t that optimistic.
‘Tulsa King’ Is By Far One of the Worst-Rated Taylor Sheridan Shows
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Tulsa King holds scores of 89% and 83% from critics and viewers
- On IMDb, the show is rated 8.0/10
The Sylvester Stallone-led series kicked it off pretty well back in 2022, garnering positive reviews from both critics and audiences; ironically, it was still left behind by Sheridan’s other major hits like 1923, Landman and even Mayor of Kingstown.
On top of that, many of Tulsa King’s fans noted that the show’s storyline went completely down the drain after the extremely successful first season.
“I liked season one of Tulsa King. Season 2 I quit after a handful of episodes. It became a typical Sheridan show, as they say Boomer Porn. Unwatchable”, Redditor qtx wrote in a thread.
Others quickly chimed in, complaining about progressively worsening quality Sheridan’s numerous shows he somehow manages to handle at once.
“Focus on making the original watchable first. Sheridan has to be one of the most mixed bag directors since Shyamalan. Capable of both perfection (Hell or Highwater, 1883) and utter shite (most of his TV stuff)”, GetGroovyWithMyGhost agreed.
“I couldn't make it past the first couple of episodes of this show. Does it get better? The acting was terrible”, flux_capacitor3 wondered.
Samuel L. Jackson’s Casting Might (or Might Not) Save ‘Tulsa King’ From ‘Yellowstone’ Fate
The expansion of Taylor Sheridan’s other TV universe will likely become a bad omen for those who watched Sheridan gradually wasting Yellowstone’s plot line by dispersing it into all possible directions that led to a dead end.
Fans of both Yellowstone and its prequel series 1883 and 1923 have been vocal about characters becoming more unreasonable, plot twists more absurdist and the story as a whole more predictable.
Some, however, are keeping their faith in Samuel L. Jackson’s ability to lead Tulsa King and its spinoff into a different direction, as several fans admitted they would keep watching the show just to see whether it would improve thanks to the actor’s presence.
