Should the Internet Panic Over Thor’s Death — Chris Hemsworth Just Cleared It All Up

Don’t grab handkerchiefs yet.
I faced the same wave of confusion and emotion as every other Marvel fan when Chris Hemsworth’s heartfelt Thor tribute started circulating online back in May.
The video had all the markings of a farewell: a nostalgic montage, a thank-you message to fans, and a sign-off that read, "Next up, Doomsday!" Like many, I braced myself for the worst — was this it? Was the God of Thunder heading for Valhalla?
Turns out, we were all jumping the Bifrost a little too early.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth explained that the whole thing had been wildly misunderstood.
"I had a few people ask me about it, and someone on my team said, 'Ugh, we’ve given the wrong impression here.' We didn’t do any damage control; there was no damage control necessary. But a lot was read into a little… [the video] was a moment of gratitude, and it wasn’t anything else. But it definitely got misconstrued."
So no, he wasn’t hinting at Thor’s death. It was just Hemsworth showing appreciation after 15 years in the MCU — not waving goodbye. And honestly, it’s refreshing to hear an actor be that direct about fan theories spiralling out of control.
Of course, that won’t stop speculation. With Avengers: Doomsday coming in December 2026 and Secret Wars closing the Multiverse Saga in 2027, people are already prepping their tissues.
Hemsworth is one of the last original Avengers standing, and fans know that sooner or later, his final bow is inevitable — especially with Kevin Feige teasing a "reset, not a reboot" that’s supposed to streamline the franchise.
And then there’s Thor 5. It’s said to be in early development, but realistically, it’s hard to see where it fits in before Secret Wars. If Thor plays a major role in both Doomsday and the multiversal finale, that leaves a tight window — meaning the standalone sequel likely won’t appear before 2028.
So while the farewell is coming… it’s not today. And personally? I’m relieved. Thor’s arc has evolved into one of the MCU’s most layered — from swaggering warrior to broken god to reluctant comic — and I’m not ready to lose that spark just yet.
