It takes a short step for a rumor to become official…

Summary:

  • The new Fantastic Four movie will be released in 2025.
  • For a long time there were rumors that the role of Reed Richards would go to John Krasinski.
  • The latest update from Matt Shakman suggests that Pedro Pascal is already confirmed for the role.

Fans of Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four movies can breathe a sigh of relief (or not), as the hottest rumors have apparently been answered by the film's director, Matt Shakman.

A few hours ago, fans noticed that Shakman re-posted an Instagram post from pubity to his stories, with the post stating that SAG-AFTRA has confirmed the rumors about Pedro Pascal being cast as Reed Richards for the upcoming iconic movie.

The casting speculation about the actor joining the franchise started a long time ago, but there was no confirmation that it really happened, until now.

It makes sense, as the actor is one of the most popular stars in Hollywood right now, and having him play the lead in one of the most anticipated movies coming out soon is a perfect choice.

The MCU fans had very different ideas and opinions on who should end up as Reed Richards. After John Krasinski’s beautiful performance in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, many people begged the MCU execs to confirm him as the one and only Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, but then it became clear that it was a one-time show.

Other people would fan cast You star Penn Badgley or even Star Wars ’ icon Adam Driver, while particular fans just went full “give us Ryan Gosling ” mode.

Pedro Pascal was among fan favorites, and many people would even come up with fan arts with The Last of Us star shining as the MCU’s Mr. Fantastic. One such fan art was what Shakman reposted.

Still, despite the previous reports and an alleged “confirmation” from Shakman, we are still to see an official MCU look that would secure Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic in the MCU.

So far, the only thing we’re certain about is the release date for the movie, which is currently scheduled for May 2, 2025.
