So… What’s Changing in 'Euphoria'? Season 3 Might Sound Nothing Like Before

Turns out the biggest shift is behind the scenes.

Waiting for Euphoria’s third season feels like waiting for a dream you half-remember — unclear but definitely intense. I’ve followed the show for years, drawn not just to its glittery visuals or dark storytelling, but to its sound. Labrinth’s haunting, genre-blending score has become a character in itself.

So when HBO quietly confirmed that none other than Hans Zimmer will be scoring Season 3, I had to do a double take.

Yes — that Hans Zimmer. The Oscar-winning composer of Dune, Interstellar, and The Dark Knight. His involvement suggests a very different emotional and sonic direction. Something bigger. Heavier. Maybe even more cinematic than ever before.

It’s not that Labrinth is stepping away — not at all. According to HBO, he’ll still be part of the show’s musical identity. But with Zimmer joining the creative team, there’s clearly a shift happening.

In fact, series creator Sam Levinson revealed that he actually wrote the new season while listening to Zimmer’s work, specifically the scores for Interstellar and True Romance. That says a lot, doesn’t it?

Levinson called the collaboration "a true honor," noting that "Hans has been ingrained in the creative DNA since the beginning." It’s a subtle shift — until you hear it. In Euphoria, music doesn’t just accompany the story; it shapes it.

Filming began earlier this year after long delays. Most of the main cast are back — Zendaya, Sweeney, Elordi, Schafer — alongside some surprising additions like Sharon Stone and ex-NFL player Marshawn Lynch.

This season will span eight noir-tinged episodes, each reportedly taking nearly a month to shoot. HBO is aiming for a 2026 release. Knowing who’s behind the score now, the wait feels a bit more justified — doesn’t it?
