'Spider-Man Brand New Day': Deleted Post Seems to Have Spoiled Marvel's Next 2 Big Villains

It looks like Peter Parker will have two enemies this time, and here's who they might be.
The premiere of the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland, titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is scheduled to be released on July 31, 2026.
Although not many details about the project are known, some can be inferred from hints by the creators. This time, however, it seems that the hint was too obvious.
'Brand New Day's Assistant Director Appears to Have Spoiled Two Villains Who Will Appear in the Movie
Ziyi Cao unexpectedly revealed potential spoilers about the upcoming Spider-Man movie. She is the assistant of director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and is now helming Brand New Day.
She posted the covers of issues #134 and #345 of The Amazing Spider-Man series on social media. The issues were released in 1974 and 1991, respectively. Later, Cao later deleted the post, but fans managed to screenshot the photo.
In issue #134, Peter Parker battles villain Tarantula. The Punisher also plays a major role in the comic, while Boomerang and Venom take center stage in issue #345.
Tarantula & Boomerang Would Fit Perfectly Into the Concept of 'Brand New Day'
Venom's return in Brand New Day is unlikely – the trilogy about this character by Sony Pictures ended in 2024. There has been no news yet about the symbiote's debut in the MCU, although part of Venom remained in Peter's dimension in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Tarantula and Boomerang may not become the main villains, but they could play significant roles in the future movie.
Additionally, the head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige promised a more down-to-earth movie about street showdowns in New York, a concept into which Tarantula and Boomerang would fit perfectly.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Kevin Feige said:
“We are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man, him being by himself dedicated to saving the city beyond and dealing with, for lack of a better term, street level crime as opposed to world ending events that he faced.”
What's more, in an interview with Collider, Feige also shared:
“He's [Destin Daniel Cretton] got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie.”
It seems that the posters posted by Ziyi Cao may be exactly those that Feige was talking about.
