This child will not grow up in a happy family.

Succession has always been about family and the struggles that come with it. No matter how much money you have and how many doors are open to you in the future, the family will always be there.

Either as your strongest supporters or as the worst enemies you can have. Unfortunately for Shiv Roy, the latter was the case for her and her siblings.

Fans are frightened to realize that the same will most likely be the case for her child, as nothing can break the cycle of familial trauma.

As we saw throughout the season, no one was happy about Shiv's pregnancy.

That doesn't necessarily mean that everyone around her will hate the baby and create a hostile environment for her, but it perfectly illustrates how little actual care she's going to get.

Between Tom's disbelief, Kendall's muttering, Roman's dirty jokes, and Caroline's hemming and hawing, there was no room for a single smile or heartfelt congratulations.

And if your heart is breaking for Shiv, who is forced to deal with every single thing in her life on her own, imagine how her child's life will most likely turn out.

Judging from Shiv's past, it's safe to assume that she would be driven by her own ambition rather than family values, so the baby's best bet would be to end up with his paternal grandparents.

While some think that's impossible given the current state of Tom and Shiv's relationship, others think they'll find a way to co-parent.

One thing that Succession viewers know for sure is that you cannot trust anything you know or see on this show, as it can and most likely will come back to haunt you later.

However, there are not many opportunities for the writers to twist the plot as the show approaches its 90-minute movie-like finale.

You can find out if we'll get any more insight into the future of Shiv's child by tuning in to HBO on Sunday, May 28th for the premiere of Succession's final episode.
