Hollywood is buzzing as Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and screenwriter Drew Pearce team up for a radical new take on Judge Dredd, the iconic British comic book lawman. The hot package hitting studios this week promises a return to the character's satirical roots, with producers including Rebellion Developments (who control the 2000 AD rights) and It producer Roy Lee.
Unlike Sylvester Stallone's 1995 flop or Karl Urban's cult-favourite 2012 version, this iteration will reportedly embrace the source material's dark humour and expansive world-building. Insiders note both Waititi and Pearce grew up devouring the comics about Mega-City One's fascistic "street judge," and have sought to collaborate for years.
