Fans have come up with a bizarre explanation for who Marrok, one of the show's villains, might actually be, but it is shaky to say the least.

The latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, the Ahsoka TV series, is finally here, with the first two episodes released on August 22, 2023.

Along with characters fans are already familiar with, it also brought some new intriguing faces, such as Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, who may be the first Gray Jedi to ever appear on screen.

However, their mysterious ally, Marrok, who is apparently a former member of the Inquisitorius Program, has also spawned several theories about who he really is, and one of them is particularly mind-boggling.

Some fans believe that he may be none other than Ezra Bridger himself in disguise.

He was last seen disappearing with Grand Admiral Thrawn in an unknown region of space (now revealed to be an entirely new galaxy) when the Purrgil pulled the ship with them aboard into hyperspace.

However, while this theory may look exciting at first, it can be easily debunked for several reasons.

First of all, it would completely undermine Ezra's journey during the events of Star Wars Rebels, from a rather naive Padawan to a competent young Jedi.

Turning him evil goes completely against his whole character arc, especially when he successfully resisted the temptations of the Dark Side in a storyline involving him and Darth Maul.

Secondly, it doesn't make sense from a story perspective, as it would be an extremely cheap and disappointing twist to reveal that Ahsoka and Sabine were chasing a shadow while the real Ezra was right under their noses all along.

And finally, as mentioned above, Ezra was dragged off to another galaxy with Thrawn, and the show makes it explicitly clear that the rest of the villains haven't found the Grand Admiral yet.

Their whole goal in the first two episodes was to find the map to that galaxy, and Marrok was with them all the way.

There is another, more believable theory that Marrok could be the Eighth Brother, an Inquisitor we saw in Rebels, based on the similarity of their armor.

He apparently fell to his death while fighting Ahsoka, Kanan, and Maul on Malachor.

Perhaps Eighth Brother survived the encounter after all, although the fact that he shows no signs of being familiar with Ahsoka during their duel on Corellia makes this theory questionable as well.

Ahsoka episode 3 will be released on August 29, 2023.

Do you also think that Marrok might actually be Ezra?
