Maybe the messy schedule is to blame.

Summary:

  • The Good Wife ended its seven-season run on CBS back in 2016
  • The iconic show already had a spinoff, titled The Good Fight, which ended in 2022
  • Elsbeth, a brand new CBS show about an unconventional lawyer, is also the franchise's spinoff
  • However, due to lack of marketing and messy schedule, fans are afraid the show won't get the recognition it deserves

The Good Wife franchise is kind to its fans: after the main show ended in 2016, they were blessed with not one but two spinoffs already. The first one, titled The Good Fight, focused on a financial scum that ruined the life of young lawyer Maia Rindell, wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart's savings at the same time.

Just like the parent show, The Good Fight received widespread critical acclaim: while The Good Wife has a 93% on Tomatometer, its spinoff enjoys an even more impressive score of 95%.

The Good Wife ended in 2016, and The Good Fight bid adieu in 2022; now, it's the second spinoff's time to shine. Or is it?

Elsbeth, a new CBS series based in the universe of The Good Wife, follows an "unconventional lawyer" Elsbeth Tascioni who finds herself a de facto detective. We already met her earlier, portrayed by Carrie Preston.

But Elsbeth is different from its predecessors — mainly because it sprinkles legal drama with comedy, unlike The Good Wife and The Good Fight. Fans also note how fearlessly Elsbeth experiments with an entirely different cinematic style; moreover, it manages to do it in a really enjoyable way.

Preston's charisma makes sure viewers easily forgive sins like cliched cases and questionable storyline. However, the show has a problem that is much, much bigger.

What's Up With Elsbeth's Schedule and Paramount Plus Uploads?

You may have completely forgotten about Elsbeth, because that's what happens when the pilot episode airs on February 29, and the next one arrives more than a month later, on April 4.

The programming got messed up because of State of the Union. Ideally, episodes hit CBS and then are uploaded on Paramount+; however, fans are disappointed with the de facto state of things.

According to fans, it takes too long for new episodes to be added to Paramount+, as they're not there two or three days after they premiered on CBS.

All the mess has the show left with little buzz; despite a warm welcome from fans, Elsbeth is nowhere to be found in Paramount+ top charts.

What is heartwarming, however, is the fact that Elsbeth does follow the standard set by its two parent shows: on Rotten Tomatoes, the spinoff enjoys 92% from critics and 87% from audience. Chances are, now that the show is on a normal schedule, it will receive the recognition it clearly deserves.

How to Watch Elsbeth?

Next episode, titled Ball Girl, is scheduled for April 18. The season consists of 10 episodes.
