Looks like we're in for an even wilder ride than the first season was!

Netflix 's adaptation of Neil Gaiman 's Sandman graphic novels has done exceptionally well in terms of ratings, critics' response, and fans welcome. Everything about the first season hit exactly the right spot: the first chapter of The Sandman was such a success it even got a rare physical release.

Now that The Sandman is officially heading towards its second season, the series director, Jamie Childs, teases something even better. Speaking to Screen Rant, he revealed that the creative team knows exactly what worked in the first season, so chapter 2 is going to be stronger.

What's particularly exciting about Childs' update is the promise that The Sandman 2 is apparently going to mix several genres.

"It's a bit like Jackdaw where every sequence was different every day. We're doing Greek tragedy, and then we're doing cyberpunk, and we're doing contemporary drama, or we're doing cat and mouse chess stuff," the director said.

Childs acknowledged that the shooting process of the second season has "gone down obviously" because of the strikes, but now that at least one of the strikes is resolved, it looks like things are looking up for The Sandman season 2.

How Did Season 1 End?

The first season of The Sandman ended with Morpheus saving the day and threatening his sibling, Desire, that they should not interfere with his realm or try to manipulate him in order to shake things up in the Endless family. It's not like Desire intends to stop, though: they openly promised they're going to "draw blood" next time.

Meanwhile, Lucifer is obviously plotting something against Dream; if the show decides to go the comics' way, then we should expect Morningstar putting Morpheus in charge of the empty hell. And while the people keep coming, Dream will have to figure out what to do with that. Still, we don't know if that's the path the show decides to go with.

When Will The Sandman Season 2 Premiere?

The premiere date has not been scheduled yet, since the shooting process has been disrupted by the strikes. It's unclear when to expect the end of the filming, too, but now that the WGA strike is resolved, the process has to be boosted to some extent.
