Despite being a minor character in The Sandman’s season 2, Taramis has a major (and very cute) connection to Tom Sturridge’s Dream.

With many fans still not over the fact that the show should have gone on for more than two seasons, Netflix’s The Sandman is coming to its end this Thursday, bringing in a definite finale for the originally vast story described in Neil Gaiman’s comic book series.

Even though the series didn’t have that much time to cover all the most important details of Gaiman’s lore, The Sandman still introduced lots of the original characters apart from the Endless family members, including Taramis who got all the fans’ attention in the second season’s brief scene — and for a sweet reason.

Who Is Taramis in ‘The Sandman’?

The character is introduced in the series’ season 2 episode 2 as the chef de cuisine of the Dreaming, the realm controlled by Tom Sturridge’s Dream aka Morpheus.

Despite some fans being convinced that Taramis comes from Neil Gaiman’s comics, she’s actually created exclusively for Netflix’s TV series, with the character being responsible for cooking the food for the event where all kinds of mythical creatures get to decide who would own the Key to Hell.

However, Taramis’ relatively small role was still a special introduction in the show for many fans since the character was played by Phoebe Nicholls, the real-life mother of Tom Sturridge.

Why Does ‘The Sandman’ End After Season 2?

It’s been hard for the show’s fans to understand why Netflix decided to wrap The Sandman up so soon, considering the series’ immense popularity and enough source material to go on with for at least a couple of seasons more.

However, the problem was lying somewhere no one would even dare to look for it, with The Sandman’s creator Allan Heinberg admitting that the show couldn’t just revolve around Dream for more instalments and the other leading characters not being interesting enough.

“Anytime we drifted into other people’s storylines, they got confused and lost interest because it’s called The Sandman and they thought the show was about the Sandman, which we all understand”, the showrunner said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the season 2 volume 1 release earlier this month.

When Will ‘The Sandman’ Finale Be Released?

The second volume of The Sandman’s season 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix on July 24.
