Tom Hiddleston Surprised Everyone On Loki Set by Offering Help With Soundtrack

Even at the darkest moments of the series, the upbeat sound of the main theme may indicate a happy ending, just like the slow and eerie sounds build up the tension.

Either way, no one can argue that the music builds the character of the show and becomes part of its brand. Take it away, or change it a bit, and all those beloved scenes just don't have the same impact as before. The same rule applies to Disney Plus' Loki, which recently aired its second season.

How Loki S2 Soundtrack Was Created

With the level of emotion certainly having increased since last season, the importance of the right soundtrack has also increased.

Fully aware of this, series composer Natalie Holt was open to any kind of discussion about how the second season of the show should sound. And, as it turned out, her biggest helper was Loki himself.

Holt recalled the exchange she had with the actor in an interview with The Hollywood Report. Of course, as two artistic personalities, they could relate to the struggle of finding inspiration, but to have a lead actor come up to someone who mingled quite well with all the extras felt very special.

So the actor did the best he could: he just gave the composer all the tools he had. And he did it with all the grace and courtesy you've come to expect from Tom Hiddleston:

“It was sort of at the end of the shoot, and we just chatted for a while about how he’d found season two. And he just said, ‘I’ve discovered all these things about what Loki is feeling and I’d love to share it with you to help you with the score’. <...> He didn’t do it in a pushy way. He was like, ‘Only if it’s helpful,’” she said.

Not surprisingly, with a number of things to reflect the depth of Loki's struggle, the soundtrack turned out to be exactly what it was meant to be. It is deep, it is catchy in the best way possible, it covers you completely and makes the experience of watching the show 10x better.
