Who Are Yara and Lev in The Last of Us? Key Characters to Shake Up Season 2, Explained
These two are pivotal for Ellie and Abby’s final plot twist in The Last of Us, but the HBO show is yet to introduce them. Before that, here’s everything you need to know about Yara and Lev’s journey.
The Last of Us’ latest episode reached its point of no return many fans expected to see as late as possible, and now HBO’s hit drama might be moving towards an introduction of new and pretty important characters.
The show’s season 2 episode 3 will most likely centre on Ellie as she grieves Joel and makes a plan to avenge his death by tracking Abby down and killing her; this will become a start of her new journey which sees Ellie encountering Abby’s allies Lev and Yara.
The two have never been mentioned in The Last of Us’ TV version so far, but play an essential role in the original video game, changing things radically between Ellie and Abby.

In the video game, Yara and Lev are siblings brought up by a woman who remained loyal to the principles of the Seraphites, a cult movement fighting with the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) for the control over Seattle.
Both became warriors at a pretty young age and had to leave their village after Lev, previously known as Lily, openly identifies himself as male, which is met with harsh criticism.
Yara and Lev meet Abby when the latter is caught and tortured by the Seraphites, helping her get free and escaping together.
The trio’s path first crosses with Ellie’s in Seattle, the latter’s first destination to look for Abby after Joel’s death.

When Ellie realises she may find Abby in Seattle’s aquarium, she gets there only to find Abby’s friends Owen and Mel, as well as their dog Alice.
She doesn’t hesitate though, killing all three, but leaving behind a map which later helps Abby track Ellie down in a local movie theatre.
Having ambushed Ellie there, Lev shoots Dina and Tommy who accompanied her, but, after finding out that Dina is pregnant, urges Abby to let Ellie and Dina live.
She agrees, and both later leave for Santa Barbara where Ellie will find Abby once again, this time also with no more victims, despite both characters’ plans to end each other.
