The Hunger Games’ next prequel movie titled Sunrise on the Reaping didn’t waste much time while making its own ensemble of actors, now adding Kelvin Harrison Jr. soon after officially casting Jesse Plemons as well.

The former, who could previously be seen in other major titles like Elvis and 12 Years a Slave, as well as heard in Mufasa: The Lion King, is now set to play one of the pivotal roles in the outcome of Haymitch Abernathy’s participation in the 50th Hunger Games, portraying a recurring character that has become prominent thanks to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Now that Harrison Jr. is replacing Jeffrey Wright in the original movie series’ prequel, here’s everything you need to know about the character and his role in Sunrise on the Reaping.

The upcoming movie has now officially found the younger version of Jeffrey Wright’s character in Catching Fire as Harrison Jr. will be portraying Beetee, the 34th Hunger Games victor, the 50th Hunger Games’ mentor and the father of Ampert Latier, a second Quarter Quell tribute from District 3.

The actor is also joining an already applauded cast that comprises Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace and Jesse Plemons.

On top of that, the movie will be helmed by Francis Lawrence who previously directed Catching Fire, Mockingjay’s both chapters and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

Initially introduced in Catching Fire, Beetee is one of the mentors at the 50th Hunger Games, joining the prep team after winning the 34th Hunger Games.

Beetee comes from District 3 known for its advanced use of technologies and sophisticated devices, which is also confirmed by the character in the arena where he assembles an electronic trap to kill the rest of the surviving tributes.

Eventually, despite everyone’s belief that Beetee had scarce chances to even make it to the top-5 of the survivors, he handles the trap pretty well, becoming Hunger Games’ winner.

However, just like any other District citizen who tries to overthrow the Capitol, Beetee is punished by President Snow when the former’s son Ampert is reaped for the second Quarter Quell.

It doesn’t come as a reason to stop the rebellion though, as Beetee is the one who plants the idea of blowing up the arena’s water tank in Haymitch’s head.

Later, with the use of instructions given by Beetee, Haymitch does succeed in destroying the water tank, though he still has to pay a high price for what he did.

When Is Sunrise on the Reaping Being Released?
