It’s unclear who will portray Drusilla in Sunrise on the Reaping’s movie adaptation, but Suzanne Collins’ novel already made her connection to another major character pretty clear. Here’s everything you need to know about Drusilla and her role in the 50th Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games ’ upcoming prequel Sunrise on the Reaping has so far found a couple of its leads, including Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak and Jesse Plemons for the roles of Haymitch Abernathy, Lenore Dove Baird and Plutarch Heavensbee respectively.

In fact, the movie is yet to follow its source material’s suit, introducing a bunch of new characters that so far never got a mention in the original movie series.

The Capitol’s staff of Gamemakers is also getting an expansion, with Drusilla Sickle becoming a key part of the 50th Hunger Games — however, the character still directly connects to the original story.

In Sunrise on the Reaping, Drusilla Sickle is introduced as one of the escorts from the Capitol who carried out the reaping in District 12 ever since the 25th Hunger Games happened.

In the book, Druella is described by Haymitch as a mean-spirited and pretty snobby woman who never cared about people’s life in District 12 anyway.

During the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, she is seen worried about what the Gamemakers will think about the ruined broadcast after one of the chosen tributes, Woodbine Chance, makes an attempt to escape.

As a whole, Drusilla makes a pretty nasty impression, calling District 12 tributes “four violent district piglets” and even assaulting Maysilee Donner during their heated argument on the train to the Capitol.

However, she still makes some kind of attempt to help Haymitch get attention from potential sponsors during the interviews, giving him tips on what the Capitol audience may like.

How Is Drusilla Connected to The Hunger Games Original Story?

Drusilla Sickle connects to Katniss Everdeen’s story not only thanks to Haymitch, but also through Effie Trinket, in the movie series portrayed by Elizabeth Banks.

Initially introduced as one of the Capitol stylists, the eccentric character shows up for Haymitch when Effie’s sister Prosephina, tasked with being a part of the prep team for the Games, asks for help after District 12’s stylist Magno Stift is nowhere to be found on the interview night.

Later, upon Haymitch’s win in the 50th Hunger Games, Effie also takes over Drusilla’s position as the District 12 escort when the former breaks her hip falling down an escalator.
