Who Is The Last of Us’ Isaac Dixon? Jeffrey Wright’s WLF Leader Explained

Jeffrey Wright’s character is a new face in The Last of Us’ season 2, and his role is yet to be expanded with the war between the WLF and the Seraphites. We’re breaking down who Isaac Dixon is, what’s his backstory and what you might expect from him in the show’s future episodes.
The Last of Us ’ sophomore season keeps following Ellie and Dina’s revenge journey as they’re getting closer to witnessing two most radical groups’ impending fight in Seattle.
While there’s not so much to say about the Seraphites yet, the WLF will now be led by Isaac Dixon, in both the show and the video game portrayed by American Fiction and The Hunger Games ’ star Jeffrey Wright.
Having just made it to The Last of Us’ TV adaptation, Isaac quickly proves himself to be a complex and morally ambiguous character who plays a key role in the overall tension between numerous radical groups.
Here’s everything you need to know about Isaac before the WLF and the Seraphites proceed to action in (possibly) the next episode.
Isaac Dixon’s Backstory in The Last of Us, Explained
In the game, Isaac is introduced as a former Marine and a Seattle citizen who had a revenge plan for the authorities, particularly for FEDRA, that kept everyone under their control in the city.
It’s pretty easy to guess why Isaac joined FEDRA as one of the sergeants after all, and the show delves into the matter, seeing Isaac kill everyone except just one soldier who he gives a choice of whether to stay loyal to FEDRA and die or join Isaac’s new group.
In the end, it’s Isaac who is behind the creation of the Washington Liberation Front, the members of which aim at exterminating all the Seraphites that Isaac saw as outsiders and invaders.
How Isaac Connects to Abby and What Happens to Him in The Last of Us Games (Spoiler Alert!)
Several years after Joel’s death pass before Isaac actually meets Abby and accepts her, as well as her gang members, into the WLF. With time, Abby forms a close relationship with Isaac and becomes one of his best soldiers.
However, this soon starts falling apart and Abby gets disillusioned with the WLF, just like Isaac did with FEDRA back in the day; she flees the WLF with Lev and Yara only for Isaac to find them later, though they eventually manage to escape once again.
The game doesn’t reveal much about Isaac’s ending, but it sees Abby and Lev listening to the radio and hearing that Isaac died from a gunshot wound and his army retreated from the island where it tried to ambush the Seraphites.
