And isn't it, like, too soon?

The Harry Potter movie saga wrapped up with the final Deathly Hallows film in 2011, so it's been barely a decade without the magical Golden Trio on our screens.

However, there are already talks about a potential reboot, be it another movie saga or a TV series. It's only natural for Warner Bros. to consider keeping the Wizarding World franchise alive and going, especially in the wake of the Fantastic Beasts series not really living up to the high hopes.

But how possible is a reboot? With the "classic" movie adaptation still loved and re-watched by fans, the new one might land in hot water no matter how good it will be. Besides, Harry Potter fans have already pointed at other parts of the Wizarding World that could use an adaptation, be it the backstory of Voldemort or a Marauders spinoff.

One Simple Muggle Item That Could Really Change it All For Wizards in Harry Potter

With Warner Bros. recently going through a leadership shake-up, it also had a change of priorities in its strategy. New CEO David Zaslav has already indicated his interest in the Harry Potter franchise.

"We haven't had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven't done a Harry Potter in 15 years. The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros. … over the past 25 years," he said back at the time, commenting on Warner Bros. new strategy.

However, neither he nor the studio itself has explicitly announced a certain Harry Potter project to be in the works.

Even though Head of Original Content at HBO Max Sarah Aubrey told Variety that the studio is "very much in the business of creating new [Harry Potter] content", it's unclear whether the executives are eyeing the reboot or some sort of a completely original project.

The poor performance of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, however, indicates that simply being a part of the Harry Potter universe is not enough to succeed. While the original eight movies grossed a staggering $7.73 billion worldwide in its ten years of existence, the third Fantastic Beasts movie, titled Secrets of Dumbledore, stood at the modest figure of $405 million. The first movie grossed $814 million, and the sequel brought in $654 million.
