A recent comment by the President of Lucasfilm may indicate that she is being considered as a screenwriter.

With the Star Wars movies finally coming out of the doldrums after Star Wars Celebration 2023, where three new films were announced, it is in the realm of possibility that we may hear about more of them in the not too distant future.

And a recent quote from Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy might just be a hint as to who will be joining the lineup of creators responsible for the future of the iconic franchise.

While speaking with Vanity Fair for their article on Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who recently appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Kennedy couldn't contain her enthusiasm for the actress and screenwriter.

Kathleen said that she would "give anything to have Phoebe write a film," as she has made a lasting impression on the Lucasfilm president because "she has this insatiable desire to do it all, but you never get the feeling that it's stressing her out."

With Indiana Jones out of the picture for some time, Star Wars is the only Lucasfilm property Waller-Bridge can get involved with. And coincidentally, she already has experience with the franchise, as Phoebe portrayed the droid L3-37 in the 2018 spinoff Solo: A Star Wars Story, so she already has at least some understanding of the material.

However, fans remain rather concerned for a not-so-surprising reason. While they admit that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a talented writer, as evidenced by Fleabag or several episodes of Killing Eve that she was responsible for, they seem to be strictly against any suggestions from Kathleen Kennedy, whom they blame for all of Lucasfilm's recent failures.

Others believe that Waller-Bridge's talent would simply be wasted given the current poor state of Star Wars, although this is questionable due to the existence of the Andor TV series, which proves the opposite by bringing a fresh take on the franchise.

Regardless of your opinion on the matter, no official announcements have been made. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is currently in theaters.
