Will The Last of Us Kill Off Tommy? What We Know So Far

Joel’s brother is obviously one of the first to go after the killers of Pedro Pascal’s character, which will also be followed by its own repercussions. We break down on what happens to Tommy in The Last of Us’ video game.
The Last of Us ’ ongoing sophomore season is giving Gabriel Luna’s Tommy a much bigger part now that his brother Joel is gone and he’s the one to look after Ellie. But the show will likely not waste much time before putting Tommy in danger, too.
So far, the HBO series is yet to see the character joining his forces with Ellie as she seeks revenge, and this is where Tommy gets just as close to death as he ever could.
However, some might be predicting a much darker ending for the character’s arc rather than what the original game had to offer — here’s why you shouldn’t worry (at least that much).
Tommy’s Possible Future in The Last of Us Season 2 (Spoiler Alert!)
In the series’ latest episode, both Tommy and Ellie are still reeling three months after Joel’s death and the attack of the infected on Jackson.
As Ellie is determined to set out on her search for Abby, Tommy isn’t a part of the plan yet, since he probably needs to stay in town which demands major rebuilding.
However, in the video game Tommy, also driven by his desire to avenge Joel’s tragic death, soon catches up with Ellie and Dina, also accompanied by Jesse, and the four make it to Seattle where Abby is hiding.
When they finally encounter Abby, Tommy is ambushed and almost meets an ending just as brutal as his brother’s, but the outcome is still different.
Is Tommy Dead in The Last of Us?
In the game, Tommy is first shot in the leg by Lev and then gets a seemingly fatal bullet in the head from Abby, but somehow manages to survive, despite many players being convinced he must be dead.
There’s not so much to say about Tommy’s fate from the game, but it’s revealed that the injury has caused him some major disabilities.
Anyway, by the time The Last of Us II wraps up, Tommy is believed to be alive. Considering how big of a role he has taken on now, the show will likely dive deeper into the matter by giving him more presence on the screen.
When Will The Last of Us Next Episode Be Dropped?
The show’s season 2 episode 4 will air on Max on May 4. The following three episodes will also arrive on the platform one by one every Sunday until May 25.
