Yellowjackets deaths in order: who died in the wilderness, who died after the rescue, and who's next in season 4
Three seasons in, Yellowjackets has killed people with a plane crash, an ice sheet, a pit full of spikes and a dine-and-dash. The final season starts November 20, and the survivors' list is short.
Yellowjackets comes back for its fourth and final season on November 20, 2026, on Paramount+ Premium, per Paramount+, with 10 episodes running into January. The show tells its story on two timelines, the 1996 wilderness after the crash and the survivors' adult lives 25 years later, and it has been killing characters on both since the pilot. Here's every major death so far, in order, before the last season adds to it.
Who died in the wilderness
These are the deaths from 1996, between the crash and the rescue:
- The crash (season 1): Several passengers and crew die when the plane goes down, including Coach Bill Martinez, father of Travis and Javi.
- Laura Lee (season 1): She tries to fly the team out in an old plane, and it catches fire and explodes. The fire starts with her teddy bear.
- Jackie (season 1 finale): After a fight with Shauna, she sleeps outside the cabin and freezes to death. In season 2, the starving team eats her.
- Crystal (season 2): She goes over a cliff during a fight with Misty.
- Shauna's baby (season 2): Stillborn after Shauna's pregnancy in the cabin.
- Javi (season 2): He falls through the ice. The group lets him go under, and he becomes the next meal.
- Coach Ben (season 3): The team cuts his Achilles tendon so he can't run, and Natalie eventually kills him because he begs her to.
- Edwin (season 3): A scientist from outside the group, killed by Lottie with an axe to the back of the head.
- Kodiak (season 3): Hannah stabs him through the eye while he's trying to escape with her, then offers Shauna the knife.
- Mari (season 3 finale): The finale reveals she's the Pit Girl from the pilot's opening scene. She draws the Queen of Hearts, runs for her life and dies in a pit full of spikes.
The Mari reveal closed a loop the show had been teasing since its very first minutes in 2021. Fans had been guessing at the Pit Girl's identity for three seasons.
Who died after the rescue
The adult timeline has a body count of its own:
- Travis (season 1): He's found hanged. Season 2 reveals that Lottie was with him when he died.
- Adam Martin (season 1): Shauna stabs him in his studio.
- Jessica Roberts (season 1): Misty laces her cigarettes with drugs.
- Kevyn Tan (season 2 finale): Poisoned with phenobarbital by Walter, as part of Misty's plan.
- Natalie (season 2 finale): She blocks Misty's attack on Lisa and takes the injection meant for her.
- Ethan, the waiter (season 3): He chases Taissa and Van after they skip out on the check, nearly gets hit by a bus and dies of a heart attack.
- Lottie (season 3): She's found at the bottom of a staircase in a basement. The finale reveals that Callie, Shauna's daughter, pushed her by accident.
- Van (season 3 finale): After pulling the group out of a carbon monoxide trap, she goes back for Melissa, who stabs her. Taissa takes Van's body into the woods and eats her heart.
Natalie and Van both died in season finales, a season apart, each while trying to save someone else.
Season 3 ended with Shauna's daughter as an accidental killer and Melissa as a deliberate one. That's the family tree going into the final season.
Who's next in season 4
Paramount+ says the wilderness timeline is closing in on the rescue, and that being saved "threatens to expose their darkest secrets." In the present, an old flame comes back to town "with a hidden agenda." The returning cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress and Hilary Swank as the adults, plus Sarah Desjardins as Callie.

The guest list is long, too: June Squibb, Elijah Wood, Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, Sam Braun and Dulé Hill.

Our read on the wilderness is simple: the safest teens are the ones the show has already shown as adults, because they have to live long enough to grow up. Anyone without an adult version on screen yet is fair game in the final stretch before the rescue. Akilah is one of the names on that list. In the present day, the three original adult leads still standing are Shauna, Misty and Taissa, and one of them has a daughter with a body in her past.
