The more episodes of The Big Bang Theory prequel come out, the less it looks like a comedy, and fans think there is a reason for that.

If you think Young Sheldon is becoming more dramatic instead of sticking to comedy, you are not alone. The sixth season of the prequel leaned heavily into the storyline of Georgie and Mandy, as well as other family members — everyone, but not, you know, the actual young Sheldon.

There may be several reasons for this, if you ask fans. Some people genuinely believe that other family members have always been more interesting than Sheldon, so they are actually happy that the prequel gives them more screen time.

Others, however, argue that after six seasons, Young Sheldon may soon find itself in the same pit that Yellowstone fell into, having finally run out of story and heading inevitably toward its conclusion.

"Sheldon can't pull off the same jokes as he could when he was younger and the drama is more of alluding to the end of the series. The characters are growing and experiencing more of the drama that comes into life as they get older," Redditor yyc_dude27 said.

Many fans believe that the showrunners don't have anything interesting in store for Young Sheldon, and that they're just trying to stretch out the story to keep the audience hooked. Similar sentiments are expressed in the Yellowstone fandom, with people complaining that the Paramount series is "boring and uneventful" and that the story has no more room to develop without killing off the characters.

But Yellowstone is an original show, not a spinoff, while Young Sheldon is limited by its Big Bang Theory's prequel status.

"Since it's a prequel, Sheldon's character has no way of developing. Every character has matured or changed. But Sheldon can't because of how he acts similar in Big Bang Theory," Redditor ConrrHD noted.

New episodes of Young Sheldon air every Thursday on CBS. The next one, titled A Baby Shower and a Testosterone-Rich Banter, premieres on February 9.
