Your daily reminder that everyone is equally human.

Summary:

  • Oppenheimer is a Christopher Nolan film that premiered back in 2023 and swept the 2023/2024 awards season.
  • Emily Blunt, who portrayed Kitty Oppenheimer in the film, has received many nominations for her performance, including the Academy Award.
  • The actress admits that she found out about the Oscar nomination while picking up her dog's poop.

Although good cinema begins with an idea and a desire to convey a global idea to the public or tell an important story, everyone in the industry is always waiting for a response to their work.

Critics and audiences do half the work, but awards season reveals true preferences and dictates current trends. That's why every producer, director, actor and crew member who worked on a particular movie is just as invested in the nominations as the audience, rooting for their favorites.

However, it is always important to stay grounded and not get caught up in the perception of others. Getting on with your life is a priority for many actors, and Emily Blunt is no exception.

But that is exactly why the happy news of her Oscar nomination for her role as Kitty Oppenheimer took her completely by surprise.

As it turns out, the actress took the nomination very much to heart, even though it wasn't the most comfortable of places to receive such happy news. Blunt learned of the nomination while walking her dog with her husband, John Krasinski. She recalled a moment during a conversation with Josh Horowitz at 92NY.

“I did have a brief cry in the middle of Brooklyn, brief weep directly after picking up my dog’s poop. I did pick up her poop and then I heard that I got nominated so it was perfect. [John Krasinski] had a really good cry as well, after helping me with the poop. I think he went and put it in the trash and then we both cried,” she said.

While it may not be the moment you want to have a picture of framed on your wall, this is definitely a little funny story to remember. Whether Blunt gets to take home the Oscar or not, the nomination itself is a very valuable nod of recognition that will surely be cherished.
