Eric Kripke Just Spoiled Homelander's Fate in 'The Boys' Season 5 Finale: "Whole Other Interesting Space"
Homelander, who transformed from a grumpy Superman to a self-proclaimed god, will finally receive his just deserts.
The Boys creator Eric Kripke unexpectedly revealed generous details about the finale of the fifth and final season.
He revealed the fate of Homelander, the leader of The Seven, and whether his father, Soldier Boy, would return. Spoilers ahead!
Eric Kripke Confirmed Season 5 Episode 7 Was the Last One for Soldier Boy

In previous episodes of Season 5, The Boys developed a supervirus to kill Homelander. However, Soldier Boy helped his son obtain the V1, which grants immortality.
Meanwhile, in Episode 7, Kimiko gained an ability that could strip Homelander of his invulnerability while Homelander continued to consolidate his power as a new god.
Soldier Boy prepared to leave Homelander because he hated him. He said that they would never be the kind of father and son who fix the Impala together, referencing the Winchesters' car from Supernatural.
Homelander knocked out his father and returned him to cryogenic storage so he could stay with him.
Fans hoped that Soldier Boy would return in the final episode. However, Kripke confirmed to Collider that Episode 7 was the superhero's final appearance in the series:
“Knowing that that was going to be Jensen's last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference. Honestly, Slem wrote, and we shot that it was a Ford. It was, ‘Working on the old Ford.’
The danger of having [director] Phil Sgriccia and I, sitting next to each other in editing, which we would do, was that we were watching it and Phil was like, ‘Should it be Impala?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, it probably should be Impala.’”
The Showrunner Spoiled Homelander's Demise in 'The Boys' Finale

In a now-unavailable YouTube interview, Kripke revealed a major spoiler about Homelander's fate. Marie Moreau and Jordan Li, from the canceled Gen V, returned for Season 5 of The Boys.
Kripke admitted that the scene featuring them was intended to set the stage for the spinoff's third season:
“When Annie says to Marie, ‘What good's all that power if you can't control it?’ And when Marie says, ‘Reports of my awesomeness have been greatly exaggerated,’ those are all hints of what we were planning to do for our season 3.
Their story was not over just because Homelander's dead. There was a whole other interesting space that they occupy as young adults in this world. We're working hard to figure out a way to continue their stories.”
The obvious conclusion is that Homelander will die. After all, the finale of the bloodiest modern series couldn't possibly end without the death of its main villain – however, such a blatant spoiler from the creator is still surprising. That's probably why the interview was removed.
