'From' Season 4 Has Finally Arrived & Received 100% on RT, but Is It Really Worth Watching?
The fourth season won't change your opinion of the show.
MGM+ has reached the halfway point of the fourth season of From, one of the most mystical and bizarre series in recent years. Not all viewers made it through the sluggish previous chapters, but the most resilient are still waiting for answers.
Season 4 has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but is it truly worth your attention, or will it just leave you with more questions than answers?
What Is 'From' Season 4 About?

The story takes place in a remote village from which there is no escape. The people build their lives in a climate of total uncertainty. At night, ghouls emerge from underground tunnels.
Sheriff Boyd maintains order and protects the residents – he discovered the talismans that shield the houses from the monsters. The first season opened with the arrival of the Matthews family, who served as our guides.
Now, in Season 4, hope for rescue has faded. Sheriff Boyd is already devising a backup plan and weighing his ammunition reserves against the population. The residents are despondent.
What's New in 'From' Season 4?
The new episodes reveal a noticeable shift. The Season 3 finale dashed the characters' hopes, and now newcomers have arrived in town: a pastor and his daughter, Sophia. The priest is destined to die before dawn, and it turns out that the devout Sophia is the reincarnated main villain, dubbed the Man in Yellow.
Ghouls rarely appear, and it's no coincidence – humans are perfectly capable of killing their own kind without outside help. Sophia will incite the residents to discord and violence, feeding on their despair.
The angry mob will likely target Tabitha and Jade because they discovered that they had already entered the town. Their previous reincarnations had completed the cycle four times, and each time it ended in death.
One of the writers' best decisions was introducing Sophia – the masked villain trope isn't new, but it clearly benefits the show. Her religious beliefs provide a nice contrast to the action, especially as the residents' faith declines.
A serious ideological perspective is exactly what From was missing, and the apparent nonsense begins to take on meaning.
Is 'From' Season 4 Worth Watching?

From is a unique series and one of the few projects that has come close to achieving the cult status of Lost. This is largely because the creators of Lost, Jeff Pinkner and Jack Bender, are still working on it.
However, From is clearly inferior to its predecessor. Character evolution and ideological confrontation fail to move the narrative forward, and many topics are repeated, creating a sense of stagnation. The only truly living thing left is Boyd, whose prostration is growing.
The fifth and final season is coming, in which the creators promise to answer lingering questions – we can only take their word for it. From is a series for the patient – for those who value the process over the outcome. If you're one of those people, watch it.
