Gwendoline Christie Thought Severance Would Never Cast Her: 'I Fell to My Knees'

What better proof that the show is good? Definitely when the iconic cast members are the hardcore fans of their own show.
Severance continues to take over the world. Social media platforms are still flooded with videos of interviews, fans are still theorizing about Season 2 and finding clues and connections. It seems like it will be a long time before everyone loses interest in the show. And frankly, we think it should stay that way.
The show follows only a few characters, which makes it clearly a character-driven show set against the backdrop of something huge and global. And every character in the show is a perfectly written addition to the overall story.
Season 2 introduced several new ones, like Gwendoline Christie 's character Lorne. And we recently found out how she actually became part of the Severance world.
In an interview with Jimmy Hill on Capital UK, the actress revealed that she was a huge fan of the show and was actually dreaming of being cast in Severance season 2. But she was too sceptical that it would ever happen.
“It was so good. I was furious. I was so angry not to be in the show and I said they'll never cast me in this. No one would ever. They were so good and I’m not good enough to be in it,” she said in the interview.
She mentioned that one day, just out of the blue, she received an email from one of the producers of the show asking her if she wanted to be a part of the show, and she was absolutely stunned and almost could not believe it was happening in reality.
So the team of the show asked her what sort of character she would have loved to play, and Gwendoline’s only demand was for it to be connected to the goats.
Why the goats though? Well, she answered that question in another interview, with Awards Buzz.
The actress said she watched the first season three times and the moment in episode 5 with a room with baby goats was it for her. She thought there was so much more to explore about the goats, and to be given the role of actually being in charge of them was a dream come true.
Gwendoline Christie’s character became a fan favorite from the moment the first pictures with her were revealed during the promotion of season 2. But it was the scene in the finale that was actually GOAT.
“Me during her first appearance: It's so cool that she's in this, I wonder why they brought her in Me during the hallway fight: Oh, that's why,” Redditor HoorayItsKyle said.
Severance seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on AppleTV+.
